As U.S. economy remains in recession and gasoline prices keep rising, Las Vegas Strip casinos are seeking paths to attract economy visitors. Room prices in the hotels are fluctuating on a daily basis, and not only in financially unstable venues like Tropicana, but also in most ambitious gambling complexes.
According to gaming analysts, during the Fourth of July holiday weekend average daily room rates on the Strip are about to drop almost by 20 percent, and by 13 percent in the preceding week.
Room rates decrease is related to the companies’ expectations that tourists would arrive and spend extra money on main Las Vegas entertainments – casinos, shows, and restaurants. Earlier, a vast amount of visitors have been scared off right after the room rates in Las Vegas rocketed up to average $350 per room per night.
At the same time, Planet Hollywood Resort increases prices for newly refurbished rooms for nearly 18 percent; to compensate for that, company’s management decided to give away meal and show tickets gratis.
Currently, Planet Hollywood has plenty of advance bookings from European visitors, as euro and pound reserve their stronger positions compared to U.S. dollar. |
