USA: Poker Players Alliance Supports Lee Rousso
According to news sources, on this Thursday, May 15, the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) together with such players as Barry Greenstein and Andy Bloch will gather outside the King County Superior Court in Kent, Washington, in support of Lee Rousso in advance of a hearing for his lawsuit against the state's online gambling ban.
Lee Rousso, a lawyer and the PPA’s state representative for Washington, accuses the state of imposing its ban on online poker in order to protect its own gambling industry that fails to comply with the Federal Government’s Wire Act. Rousso stated that the Washington law makes it a felony to gamble over the Internet while the Act does not extend criminal liability to online players and it is a clear violation of the US Constitution's commerce clause forbidding individual states from passing protectionist laws against other states' business.
