The number of Macau visitors has reached 2,713,457 in March 2008, which is a year-on-year increase of 25.6 per cent. Percentage of guests from Mainland China (1,566,179), Hong Kong (743,250) and Southeast Asia (153,921) grew by 32.4, 11.5 and 60.4 per cent respectively. The percentage of one day visitors shows 53.2 per cent of the all-in-all arrivals. It is clear that the better part of those who arrive in Macau come from Mainland China and Hong Kong, which amounted to 57.7 and 27.4 per cent of the total respectively. The first quarter of 2008 saw 7,506,309 of total visitors to Macau; it was 17.9 per cent increase over the same quarter of 2007. Mainland China visitors number totaled 4,385,684 showing a 22.6 per cent rise. Hong Kong and Southeast Asia visitors rose by 3.3 per cent and 63.3 per cent respectively. And, same-day visitors number amounted to 3,951,571 giving a 52.6% increase. In accordance with the mode of transportation, those who arrived by sea rose by 10.9% , those who arrived at the Outer Harbour from Hong Kong and from Mainland China increased 57.6 per cent and 23.5 per cent respectively. Those who arrived in Macau by land increased by 21.4 per cent, which is up to 4,704,257. Those arriving through the Border Gate rose by 14.8 per cent. And still the main tourists suppliers are Mainland China (79.1%) and Hong Kong (14.6%). Air arrivals rose by 21.3% over the first quarter of 2007. Here leaders are China (35.0%) and Southeast Asia (28.8%).
