| First Sports Lottery in Taiwan |
Taiwan started its first sports lottery, and part of its proceedings will go on the development of sports and on improvement of the life of handicapped people. The rights on this lottery till 2013 were won by the Taipei Fubon Bank. The Bank’s VP Yang Jui-tung stated that bets can be placed on international basketball, baseball and soccer. This point has been the object of criticism on the side of parliamentarians, who said that the lottery was initially supposed to support local sports.
Tickets are already being sold by the Taipei Fubon Bank 200 designated retailers, however first day’s sales were very low, as the whole phenomenon is new in Taiwan, and betting process is rather complicated.
